TOUPEE FOR A DAY!
EVERYONE can participate. There are NO restrictions based on age, location or physical ability. The only requirement is that participants wear their toupee for the day while continuing their normal routine. Large groups, small groups, entire families, entire companies, and school groups are all encouraged to participate. By sporting toupees for a day, participants will raise vital funds and awareness for Wellspring Calgary. They will be “putting it on for the ones we love”.
Participants can register at this link and there is no registration fee. Participants can register as a team or as an individual. Each participant will have a personal fundraising page where they can tell their personal story and collect donations. Once the participants have reached a minimum fundraising goal of $50.00 for an individual and/or $300.00 for a team, their toupee will be available for pickup. Dates and times for Toupee pick up will be posted at a later date.
The Wellspring “toupee” has been created using 10 different colours of “hair”. The “hair” represents a variety of different coloured cancer ribbons from some of the most common cancers, including a lavender ribbon for supporters. The emotional journey faced by people diagnosed with cancer, as well as those who support them, is very similar regardless of the type of cancer. Wellspring Calgary supports ALL people affected by cancer and all cancer supporters.
At Wellspring Calgary, people living with cancer tell us what helps them the most – having access to information, receiving support, and learning new ways to cope. Wellspring Calgary supports, informs and empowers patients, families and caregivers by helping them address the fear, isolation, disruption and practical problems cancer brings to their lives. All of Wellspring Calgary’s programs, services and resources are offered free of charge and without referral. Wellspring Calgary depends on the generosity of its donors and supporters to ensure it is able to deliver programs of value and quality to those who need them.

What does the Wellspring toupee look like?
There are many, many types of cancer and each is represented by a different coloured ribbon. For example, throat cancer is represented by a periwinkle ribbon and brain cancer is represented by a grey ribbon. The Wellspring toupee is multi-coloured to represent Wellspring Calgary’s support of ALL cancers and all cancer supporters.
How do I fundraise?
After you register at toupeeforaday.com/calgary, you will be able to set up a fundraising page with a photo and a short personal story, as well as your fundraising goal. Then you will be able to send this page to all your friends and family, and encourage them to donate to Wellspring Calgary and help you meet your fundraising goal.

What about tax receipts?
Wellspring Calgary is a registered charity (# 809013675 RR0001). Every donation $20.00 or more will receive a Canadian tax receipt for the entire amount of the donation.
Can I enter a team?
Yes, a team consists of a group of two to 10 members. When you register, you will be walked through the process of how to set up your team.
How do I receive my Wellspring toupee?
If you are an individual, once you reach $50.00 in donations on your personal page, your toupee will be available for pick up.If you are on a team, once your team has reached $300.00 in donations your toupees will be available for pick up.
Dates and locations for Toupee pick up will be posted at a later date.
How will the proceeds from Toupee For A Day be used?
By wearing a Toupee For A Day and collecting donations, you will be raising vital funds and awareness for Wellspring Calgary. The proceeds will go to support Wellspring Calgary’s valuable programs, services and resources. In 2011 alone, Wellspring Calgary provided over 18,000 program hours to over 1500 people affected by cancer.
